It would be hard to take a break. Remember, her entire career had been built on not taking a break! Beyoncé had learned to see taking a break as being sort of weak. We know that isn’t true (everyone needs some down time once in a while), but Beyoncé was ever the perfectionist and she didn’t allow herself such luxuries. Deep down she worried that it might mean she was a failure or that she couldn’t “hack it” as a star. She was a people pleaser and she feared her fans would start thinking she was lazy.

But her whole message was that of empowerment. Of being unapologetic! Of asking for what you need. Beyoncé realized she needed to practice what she preached. She needed to be empowered! She needed to be unapologetic. She needed to ask for what she needed.

She needed this break.

This was what people meant by “a new chapter” and Beyoncé was about to turn the page and start hers.
